We set off around 9.30am for the 4-hour drive to our hotel for an overnight stay before we board 'Le Shuttle' and head for France.
Our halfway stop was at Cambridge Services on the A14 as our route took us from the A1/A1(M) on to the A14 in readiness for us to join the M11 towards the M25 clockwise.
The M25 took us across the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge over the Thames and it was on to the M20 for our overnight stop at Ashford where we arrived at about 3pm.
It was a good place to be with all sort of retail opportunities from a supermarket to various eateries. Of course there was bound to be a Pizza Hut .....
I did say there was a Pizza Hut!
