Today was the last day of our Spring adventure and the surprise for James was going on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway.
He had no idea we were doing this so was very excited when we arrived at Hythe and realized what was happening. The train we travelled on was pulled by a loco called Dr Syn and it had a large party on board celebrating a 70th birthday.
It was a beautiful sunny day and, once we had shoehorned ourselves into the tiny carriage, we were on our way.
About 40 minutes later we arrived at New Romney where there was a café and a model railway exhibition. Unfortunately lack of time meant that we could not go all the way to the end of the line at Dungeness but we enjoyed the journeys we had and it has given us a taster for perhaps another trip in the future. The line celebrates its centenary anniversary in 2027 so who knows?
It was then time to get back in the car and head back up north and to home after a fun week on the continent.
Videos to come.
